This 2 stage project for Kolbe Catholic College involved the master planning, design and delivery of a major new sporting facility on an existing operational school campus. The development replaced outdated hardcourts and an undersized gymnasium with a contemporary, double-court arena supported by robust amenities tailored for high-use environments. The project was delivered as part of a larger staged redevelopment that relocated canteen and changeroom facilities, strengthened precinct connections between learning areas and surrounding ovals, and significantly improved circulation across the campus.
The facility includes two multi-purpose courts designed for basketball, netball, badminton and assemblies, supported by changerooms with direct access to external sporting fields, a commercial kitchen and canteen, a fitness centre, PE office and linked outdoor dining and gathering spaces. The design emphasises clarity of movement, durability of materials and intuitive operational flow, all essential qualities for busy sports precincts. Landscaping and external interfaces were carefully considered to improve legibility, create safe spectator areas and enhance the broader campus environment.
The project also opened the opportunity to provide a dedicated dance and rehearsal space, black box style drama space and additional music and tutorial rooms. An exciting addition to the campus!
