Association of Independent Schools Western Australia (AISWA) provides professional training and learning support for schools, teachers, and administrators from across the state. EIW Architects were approached to provide a staged masterplan to reassess the needs of the different departments, improve the efficiency of each departments’ space available, develop staged strategies for redevelopment, and provide design services for the Stage One Professional Training Suites.
The existing building underwent a staged development process to accommodate operational needs while construction was ongoing. Drawing inspiration from Western Australia’s diverse landscapes, the design incorporated fluid shapes, natural materials, and colours overseen by AISWA, representing the regions it serves. Function, meeting, and seminar rooms of varying sizes were equipped with high-quality technology and kitchen facilities, fostering a welcoming environment. Upgrades ensured compliance within the existing context while providing a clear sense of identity and arrival through effective wayfinding. The layout prioritised spatial relationships and included features such as teacher training areas, digital check-in systems, and calming lighting transitions. Brand identification was integrated seamlessly, facilitating easy access to private conversations, and enhancing overall usability.
