PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The West Australian Rifle Association required a new rifle range facility for its club members and to host international shooting events. Located on a 'green field' site at Pinjar, the facility is predominantly single storey with a second level serving as a control centre for the firing range. EIW Architects were engaged for documentation and contract administration.

The facilities include three full bore rifle range and one 25m firing range, a clubhouse complete with kitchen and dining facilities, secure storage areas, administrative offices for the association with a shop/museum, a workshop shed and toilet amenities and parking areas.

As a counter measure to bushfire threats, the building was constructed using precast concrete panels and corrugated cladding to external walls with metal sheet roofing. As there is no scheme water on the site, the facility relies on a water treatment plant to treat local bore water to become potable drinking water.
